It's been a hectic summer for the Killie Trust Board and just in case you've not heard about what we've been doing for the last few months here are some snippets:-
In February this year The Killie Trust announced a £2,000 community bursary to help charities and community groups throughout Kilmarnock; we invited local organisations to apply for a share of a £2,000 fund to support the invaluable work being carried out in the community. After being inundated with applications, we increased the fund and donated a total of £2,500 to 14 groups. Anyone, from local football teams to youth and volunteer groups, in the Kilmarnock area were welcome to apply for funds and The Trust received applications from a wide range of groups including 2nd Hurlford Brownies, Northwest Youth Project, New Farm Loch @ 40, Bellfield Royals 1999's and Fenwick Pre 5's.
The Killie Trust has already played a massive part in saving the youth development system at Kilmarnock Football Club, however as you know our aim is to invest not only in the club but also in the local community. The establishment of the community bursary was designed to contribute towards helping the many worthwhile causes and groups in the local area. This is the first year that The Killie Trust has undertaken this and it has proved to be a massive success.
In June we held the 'Killie Trust Summer Ball' in the Caprington Suite at The Park Hotel. Following a lovely meal, we had some fantastic entertainment from our band DeVille, an auction, raffle, some competitions and plenty of sore heads the next morning…the Killie Trust Board can vouch for that! On the night of the Ball we auctioned off two places in the Killie Trust team for the Killie Festival to play against an 'old crocks' team. The remaining positions for the Killie Trust team were auctioned through killiefc.com and our lucky bidders got the chance to play against some Killie legends at Rugby Park; I'm sure they don't want to be reminded but they got hammered 10-1 although we're sure that did not take away from their experience.
Just last month we held our first ever Killie Trust Golf Day which proved to be a huge success with 16 teams taking part in a four ball better ball at Kilmarnock Barassie in Troon.
Following a very busy summer by the Trust and our members, we have made just around £11,000 over the last few months so thanks again to everyone who got involved with our fundraising activities.
If anyone is interested in helping the Killie Trust by either joining the board or simply lending a hand for a few hours at events or at the Trust desk at home matches then please get in touch by emailing
