» Trust Announce £2,000 Community Bursary |
|
2nd February 2008 |
The Killie Trust has launched a £2,000 community bursary to help charities and community groups throughout Kilmarnock; The Trust is inviting local organisations to apply for a share of a £2,000 fund to support the invaluable work being carried out in the community.
Anyone, from local football teams to youth and volunteer groups, in the Kilmarnock area are welcome to apply for funds, which can be used to purchase much needed equipment or to organise days out for groups.
The Trust has already played a massive part in saving the youth development system at Kilmarnock Football Club, however, its aim is to invest not only in the club but also in the local community.
The establishment of the community bursary is designed to contribute towards helping the many worthwhile causes and groups in the local area. This is the first year that The Killie Trust have undertaken this and if it proves to be a success it is to become a yearly initiative.
Barry Richmond, Chairman of The Killie Trust, said: "The common perception among fans is that we are no more than a vehicle to generate funds for youth development, but nothing could be further from the truth. We are undertaking many initiatives as well as 'Fifty for the Future' and our Community Bursary should illustrate the Trust's ability to benefit not only the club but the community as a whole.
"The funding which we have made available this year will hopefully help groups in the local community who would otherwise not be able to take on particular projects. We want to encourage as many people as possible to apply for this as it is our aim to benefit as wide variety of groups in Kilmarnock as possible."
Anyone wishing to apply on behalf of a local charity or community group for a share of the community bursary should download the application form or send a letter outlining the amount requested, details of the group and what the money will be used for.
Please email your applications/letters to Lisa Stevenson, or by post to Lisa Stevenson, The Kilmarnock Supporters' Society Ltd. PO Box 26103, Kilmarnock, KA1 1YN.
Closing date for applications is Friday 7th March 2008.
